Gaiwans & Bowls
Jingdezhen · Jiangxi Province, China
$28 – 75
The gaiwan (covered bowl) has been the universal Chinese brewing vessel for over 300 years. Unlike Yixing, it absorbs nothing — every tea expresses itself purely. Ideal for comparing teas, exploring new varieties, and learning gongfu technique.

Craft Story
Made by hand, shaped by tradition.
Jingdezhen has been the center of Chinese porcelain production for over 1,000 years. The white kaolin clay found here produces the purest, most translucent porcelain in the world — so fine that light passes through thin walls.
The gaiwan design — three-piece lid, bowl, and saucer — was perfected during the Ming dynasty. It allows precise control over steeping time and concentration, and the lid can be used to gently agitate the leaves.
